1. Are 3D printed orthoses durable enough?

Yes. WIMBA orthoses are designed to be highly durable, safe, and suitable for everyday clinical use.

We use advanced industrial 3D-printing technologies and medical-grade materials that have been extensively tested for veterinary orthopedic applications. These materials are selected for their strength, flexibility, and resistance to fatigue, ensuring they can withstand daily loading, movement, and long-term use.

Each orthosis is:

  • Patient-specific – designed based on individual measurements or scans to ensure optimal load distribution

  • Lightweight – minimizing additional strain on joints and soft tissues

  • Structurally reinforced – to maintain stability while allowing controlled movement where needed

Before delivery, every device goes through quality control checks to confirm proper fit, structural integrity, and clinical safety.

With correct fitting and appropriate use, WIMBA 3D-printed orthoses provide reliable, long-term support for both rehabilitation and chronic orthopedic conditions, while remaining comfortable for the patient.

2. What materials are orthoses made of?

WIMBA orthoses are manufactured using high-performance, medical-grade 3D-printing materials selected specifically for veterinary orthopedic use.

1. Structural shell (brace body)
The main structure of the orthosis is made from nylon-based materials (PA-12 and PA-13) produced using HP (Hewlett-Packard) industrial 3D-printing technology.
These materials are:

  • Approved for prolonged skin contact

  • Extremely lightweight yet highly durable

  • Waterproof, allowing dogs to walk, exercise, and rehabilitate in water

  • Resistant to fatigue and daily mechanical stress

2. Internal padding (“pillow” layer)
The inner contact layer is made from TPU (thermoplastic polyurethane) — a soft, elastic, and spring-like 3D-printed material.

TPU padding:

  • Provides shock absorption and pressure distribution

  • Maintains airflow even under compression, reducing moisture buildup

  • Helps minimize the risk of pressure sores and skin irritation

  • Adapts dynamically to movement for improved comfort

By combining a rigid but lightweight nylon shell with breathable, flexible TPU padding, WIMBA orthoses deliver a balance of stability, comfort, and long-term safety suitable for both rehabilitation and chronic orthopedic support.

3. How long will the production and delivery take?

For orthoses in regular production, the standard production time is up to 10 working days.

  • WIMBA GO orthoses – production time up to 10 working days

  • WIMBA PRO orthoses – production time up to 15 working days, starting from the moment the scan is received and approved by our Production Team

In cases where additional customization or complex clinical requirements are involved, production and delivery times may vary. In such situations, the WIMBA team performs an individual case review to determine the most accurate timeline.

Off-the-shelf products, such as the Cervical Collar and Wound Care, are shipped on the next working day after the order is received.

Please note that delivery time depends on the destination, carrier, and external factors beyond our control (e.g. customs procedures, weather conditions, or local courier delays).
