Please note: If your patient weighs less than 15 kg, manual measurements must be taken in addition to the WimbaScan.
For dogs in the 7–15 kg weight range, the orthosis size is selected based on both the WimbaScan and the manual measurements. We will first assess whether the patient can be fitted with the Standard version, and if this is not suitable, the MINI version will be considered.
For the Wimba Stifle Orthosis PRO MINI, completing the measurement form is required. Download the measurement card.
To avoid the need for an additional appointment and repeated measurements, please complete the measurement form during the initial visit whenever the patient falls within this weight range.
Before Patient Arrives
- Video resolution (min 1080p) → highest possible video quality
- 4K is the most beneficial
- Check scan room lighting (no over exposure or under exposure on scanned limb)
- WIMBA Scan Mat is flat on hard & flat surface
- Proper camera & WIMBA Dolly trajectory (estimated for patient)
- No smudges or streaks on the lens
- Prep with staff and appropriate support & reinforcement for patient
Prepare Patient for Scan
- Support patient’s anxiety/comfort
- Bandage correctly applied: the bandage is smooth, the bandage covers affected joint and extends to the proximal and distal joint
- Hair/objects don’t cover Bandage
- Mat Colors (blue/green) visible
- Patient in the correct position
- Correctly applied marker (Stifle)
- Coverage of entire limb on film - full rotation around limb
Review Scan (Patient rests)
- Video resolution on phone (1080p +)
- Bandage did not slide down
- Bandage is smooth, no wrinkles
- Bandage covers affected joint and extends to the proximal and distal joint (We can’t design what is not covered by bandage)
- Hair/objects don’t cover Bandage
- Mat Colors (blue/green) visible
- Patient didn’t move during scan
- Correctly applied marker (Stifle)
- Coverage of entire limb on film - full rotation around limb
- Focus maintained on limb
Wrapping Step-by-step Guide
Scanning Methods
There are two possible methods of scanning. The first one is using Autodolly.
- Affected limb should be wrapped in bandage, dog should stand on both limbs.
- If possible, the dog should stand on the affected limb, with the contralateral limb bent.
The second method is a hand-hold scan.
- Affected limb should be wrapped in bandage, dog should stand on both limbs.
- If possible, the dog should stand on the affected limb, with the contralateral limb bent.
Remember: You need to wrap the entire pelvic limb & capture the whole of it on the camera.
Before you start scanning, place the patella marker on the most cranially located area of patella.
