WIMBA Pro - Medical Indications

Discover the medical indications for WIMBA Pro devices and learn which patients can benefit and explore practical examples for better understanding.

Medical Indications for WIMBA Pro:

  • Protective Support for Digit Conditions - deformations, malformations, missing digits, OA in digits - joints and ligaments, varus/valgus instability of digits
  • Various Metacarpal/Metatarsal Conditions
  • Varus/Valgus Instability of the Joint - mild to moderate cases. Severe varus/valgus instability will be assessed on case by case basis and some of them might be declined

NOTE: Each varus/valgus instability case is prone to cause contact between skin & orthosis. The limb will be falling to the side and resting on the hinges of the orthosis. For that reason, there will be soft TPU padding on the tokens (hinges), but due to providing appropriate support to the limb, contact cannot be fully prevented.

  • Protective Support for Mild to Moderate Neurological Damage - knuckling, weak corrective reflex etc.

NOTE: It should be considered on a case-by-case basis whether a paw segment is necessary/beneficial for the patient. Every effort is made to decrease the necessary difference in height the paw segment will create while maintaining the structural and functional integrity of the orthosis.

However, please note that adding a paw segment will impact the dog's proprioception and will make the limbs length uneven. This is an expected side-effect that can be accepted if paw segment will be beneficial for the treatment, but that should be considered if the dog will do equally with or without the foot component.

  • Post-op/Alternative to Arthrodesis/Failed Arthrodesis
  • Many cases that were determined too severe for WIMBA Go but can be supported with orthosis
