What’s in the WIMBA Box?
The WIMBA Box equips veterinary professionals with the essential tools required to perform standardized WIMBA scans. These tools support the accurate capture of limb geometry needed to design custom orthotic devices that reflect each patient’s individual anatomy.
The WIMBA Box is required to order WIMBA Pro devices and is used in conjunction with WimbaSCAN technology.
What is WimbaSCAN?
Before reviewing the individual components, it is important to understand WimbaSCAN.
WimbaSCAN is a standardized method for performing 3D limb scans using a smartphone. It simplifies the process of capturing accurate anatomical data for custom orthotic design while eliminating the need for traditional plaster casting or dedicated 3D scanning equipment.
Using guided image capture and calibration tools, WimbaSCAN allows for precise digital modeling of a patient’s limb, with accuracy up to 0.2 mm. This level of detail supports consistent device fit, comfort, and functional outcomes.

Demo device
- We include a demo WIMBA Go device. This is to showcase our state of the art 3D printed materials and structure capabilities. As well as to give an example of our range of motion systems.
Component Descriptions
Calibration mat
The printed calibration mat provides a stable, high contrast surface for scanning. Its pattern is designed to support accurate image processing and consistent data capture during the WimbaSCAN process.
Autodolly with charging cable
The Autodolly is a motorized smartphone platform that moves around the patient’s limb to capture a full 360 degree scan. Adjustable wheels and a flexible phone mount allow it to accommodate a range of patient sizes and most smartphones.
WIMBA patterned vet wrap and Sleeves
The patterned vet wrap is used to wrap the limb prior to scanning. The pattern enhances scan accuracy by improving visual reference points while allowing for firm, even application around the limb. Some boxes may come with patterned sleeves that can be used in the same way as the vet wrap.
Patella markers for stifle scans
Patella markers (stickers) are required when performing stifle scans. Proper identification of patella position is essential for accurate stifle orthosis design and alignment.
Measurement tools
Certain devices require additional measurements to complement the 3D scan. These measurements help verify scan accuracy and support proper device fit. The WIMBA Box includes a scaled radiograph marker, goniometer, and tape measure for this purpose.
